My story
I’m Chanelle Jumper, PhD, founder of SIGNALS Inc., and I’ve had a lifelong obsession with health and nutrition—but that didn’t stop me from getting completely lost and watching my health unravel before I found my way home…
I grew up knowing exactly how to eat. My dad taught me early that the food industry wasn’t on our side. From the time I could read, I was scanning ingredient labels, rejecting vegetable oils and artificial additives, and eating real, home-cooked meals. I never thought about food as restrictive or complicated—it was simply nourishing. I felt great.
But as I got older, I started following the “rules” laid out by modern nutrition trends. I became convinced that health was about discipline. I went organic, vegan, alcohol-free, caffeine-free, and devoted myself to daily yoga. At the peak of my discipline, I was also at the peak of my health problems. I was diagnosed with PCOS and infertility. My body wasn’t working the way it should.
I had spent years trying to optimize my health, but I had lost touch with the instincts I once had. I followed trends, got swept up by dogma, and listened to experts instead of my own body.
When I got pregnant through medical intervention, I still refused to change my diet. My iron levels were dangerously low, and my midwives warned me that I wouldn’t be able to have a home birth unless I raised them. I tried every supplement available, but nothing worked.
Finally, out of desperation, I sat down one day and ate a burger. I told myself it was temporary, but my iron levels normalized, and I was able to deliver my baby at home. Even then, I didn’t fully connect the dots. It wasn’t until three years later, recovering from ovarian surgery, that I found myself ravenously gnawing on a lamb bone in my kitchen. That moment changed everything.
I had been right all along—my body instinctively knew what it needed, and I had let other people convince me otherwise.
When I finally started feeding my body what it truly needed—animal protein, healthy fats, and real nourishment—my health transformed. My PCOS disappeared. My fertility returned. My nervous system healed. I had a second pregnancy and birth completely naturally.
Years later, I came across research on nutrient sensing and appetite signaling—the science that validated everything I had instinctively known. I learned that our bodies have highly sophisticated ways of detecting what we eat, down to the nutrient level.
Nutrient sensors in our gut respond to protein, fat, fiber, and micronutrients, triggering satiety signals like GLP-1, CCK, and PYY, which tell the brain, "You're nourished. You're full. You don’t need more." But when we eat foods that lack these key nutrients—like ultra-processed meals, empty carbohydrates, or inadequate protein—these signals never fully activate. The result? Constant hunger, cravings, and the feeling that something is missing.
That’s why I created SIGNALS—a meal designed to work with the body’s innate appetite regulation system, not against it. Because while we don’t always have time to cook the perfect meal, we shouldn’t have to compromise on real nourishment.
SIGNALS isn’t just another shake. It’s a meal that our bodies would make for us—if they could. It’s real food, formulated with the nutrients that trigger true biological satiety, so that when you drink it, you feel deeply nourished, satisfied, and free from the endless cycle of cravings and dissatisfaction.
When your body is actually fed, it signals back: satisfaction, ease, and the deep feeling of "I don’t need anything else."
That’s the feeling we should all be tuning into. That’s the feeling SIGNALS was designed to create.
